Rock-Tenn Company

Rock-Tenn Company

Rock-Tenn Company traces its origins back to the year 1973, when Tennessee Paper Mills -a Chattanooga-based paperboard recycling company- and Rock City Packaging -originally in the business of box manufacturing- joined forces and started their combined operations in Norcross, Georgia. Ten years after the merger, several factories were acquired by the company; additional firms -all of them are dedicated to the production of corrugated displays, folding cartons and recycled paperboard- were attained through the 90s.

Towards the year 2003, Rock-Tenn becomes the owner of Cartem Wilco Group Inc., a pharmaceutical and health & beauty packaging specialized Canadian company; and in May 2011, it purchases Smurfit-Stone Container -a leading industry paperboard producing and recycling company-, for a total of 3.5 billion dollars; it became the second containerboard production company in North America.

Consumer packaging (including folding cartons and other packaging solutions), corrugated packaging (which encloses recycled containerboards, preprint, litho laminate, shipping and display solutions), merchandising displays (both promotional and/or permanent), paperboard (bleached, recycled, coated and/or uncoated), specialty paperboard (comprising partitions, book cover boards and chip & gypsum integrated packaging), and recycling/waste solutions (consisted in the collection, sales and trading of recovered paper) can be listed among the many products and services that they offer.
