The company was founded in 1875 under the name of The Prudential Friendly Society. John Fairfield Dryden and insurance agent founded this company with the purpose of making life insurance accessible to the working class. The services that it provided were funeral and burial expenses for only three cents per week. Thanks to its very low prices, the company quickly became a success.
