Occidental Petroleum Corporation

Occidental Petroleum Corporation, commonly known as Oxy, is an international company which explores and produces natural gas and oil. The company was founded in 1920, and it quickly became a success in less than ten years. It has expanded its operations to the United Kingdom as well as to several countries in Latin America. Nowadays, the company is presented in four continents, and it has over 30 thousand employees worldwide.
Oxy organizes its activities in three segments:

• The Oil and Gas segment- this segment, explores, develops produces and sells natural (liquid and condensed) gas and crude oil. Besides operating in the USA, this segment operates in Africa and Latin America.
• The Midstream, Marketing, and Other segment- it collects, treats, refines, delivers, stocks, buys and sells crude oil (condensate and liquid), natural gas and carbon dioxide. It also negotiates with the company’s assets and commodities and securities.
• The OxyChem segment- it is, at the same time, a subsidiary of the company. OxyChem is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins, chlorine and caustic soda manufacturer. It has several chemical manufacturing plants around the world. Eleven companies are located in the United States; nevertheless, there are other companies in Canada and in some countries in Latin America such as Brazil and Bolivia.
