Lexmark International, Inc.

Lexmark International, Inc.

Lexmark is one of the leading printing companies in the world. It was created in Lexington, Kentucky, in the year 1991, after IBM stopped working with the investment firm Clayton & Dubilier -as their provider of printers and printer supplies- and it created a branch of their own for the latter purposes. In time, the company gained success on its own which resulted in the IBM logo’s removal from the products in 1994, and the subsequent public trading of the brand in 1995.

Despite the company’s priority is the research, development and manufacture of laser, inkjet and dot matrix printers; Lexmark also offers ink/toner supplies and accessories such as furniture (shelves, cabinets and bases), cables, paper feeders, application cards, etc.

One of the reasons for Lexmark’s success is probably the affordability and functionality of their products; after all, it was the first company in offering inkjet printers for under $100, as well as the introducer of stand-alone photo-printer machines. Lexmark is also currently in charge of the manufacturing of third-party products for Dell.
