CSX Corporation started its operations in 1980; the company was the result of the fusion of Chessie System and Seaboard Coast Line Industries. Its headquarters are located in Jacksonville, Florida but they were initially located in Richmond, Virginia.

CSX Corporation is dedicated to the transportation services. It offers rail-based transportation services and the transport of containers and trailers using more than two means of conveyance. The company operates over 21 thousand route mile rail networks, 70 ocean, river and lake ports, 4,000 locomotives, approximately 2,030 short-line and regional railroads and more than 80 thousand freight cars.
