Calpine Corporation

Calpine Corporation was founded in 1984, in San Jose, California but in 2009, its head office was moved to its current location in Houston, Texas. The company generates environmentally friendly electricity to homes and business in the USA and Canada.

The main purpose of Calpine Corporation is to provide electricity but not any kind of electricity; Calpine Corporation provides clean, safe and trustworthy electricity which is achieved by using two innovative technologies:

• The combined-cycle natural gas-fired, which thanks to the use of natural gas generates 90% less emission.
• Geothermal power plants, they use steam from the earth as a resource; so, any fossil fuel is burned.

The company operates 92 power plants (15 of them are Geothermal.) These plants have the capacity to generate more than 28 thousand megawatts. With such a large fleet of plants, the operations of each plant have to be carefully planned in order to obtain its maximum capacity at a low cost. For this reason, the company has the Calpine Merchant Services which manages each one of the plants by improving its operation process. So, no matter what the customer’s requirements are, Calpine Corporation can fill them at really reasonable and fair prices.
